Hej,
två tango-entusiastiska flickor från Tyskland håller på med ett projektarbete om tango. De skulle bli jätteglada om du vill dela mig dig om tango till de. Deras text kommer här nedan.
Hälsningar Andreas
SWINGING GREETINGS TO ALL TANGO DANCERS!
Let us introduce ourselves: We are Katharina and Sophia Burghardt and Maria Roschow from Jena, Germany, 12th grade stundents at the Jenaplan school in Jena. We are enthusiastic tango dancers and are at present working on our school project about Tango Argentino.
If we were asked to define HAPPINES, we would answer that HAPPINESS is like quietly sitting in the soft light of a flickering candle, thinking of the weeks that just went by, listening to the distant song of a lonely clarinette that mingles with the muffled sound of falling raindrops pattering against the gray windows, and while darkness falls, thinking about the year that we just left behind.
But receiving your help also means HAPPINESS to us. You should all have a place in our „concert of thoughts“! We hope to be able to quote a multitude of opinions and thoughts about tango in our essay.
So take your time, sit down with a nice cup of hot tea in front of you, and just write down what first comes to your mind when you read our questions. Spontaneity and improvisation are always good (just like when dancing tango)!
1.) Tell us - or rather write - what tango means to you, how you would describe its essence. In other words: You are talking to someone who doesn’t know anything about tango. How would you describe tango using just a few words?
2.) Could you tell us how you were seduced by tango? What brought you closer to tango?
3.) What is you inner attitude when you dance tango?
4.) „Tango is loneliness for two“. What do you think of this statement?
5.) We were told that many tango dancers simply dance tango, without trying to find out more about its cultural and spiritual background. Some people even think that it would be harmful. Do you think that one should simply dance and appreciate the beauty of tango without trying to learn more about it?
6.) We also heard that tango is particularly popular among the Finnish and the Nordic in general. We wonder why tango became so popular in Finland, given that it first spread in southern Europe (France). Do you think that the Finnish dance more (and better) than the tango dancers in other countries?
7.) What do you think of modern tango music? We thereby mean the new forms of tango music that have their origin in the music of Piazolla and led to the most modern cross-overs of tango, pop and techno. Should we stick to the “old“ and reject any new development? Or do you think that this estrangement from the “old“ is a good or even necessary trend (eg. Gotan-Project from Paris)?
We hold our breath and have a look around: Happiness may also mean, that the stress in our daily lives does not prevent us from keepin our hearts open to the magic in our world, the beauty of tango and the power of its music that gives us energy in the dark and cold winter months. THANK YOU! MERCI BEAUCOUP!
Katharina, Sophia und Maria say goodbye. See you at the next milonga!
